IMAGES, FINAL CARD

Okay, I spent 12 minutes hashing together a really simple tutorial. Here it is: First, right-click on the image file(s) above and choose "Save Target As" to download them to your hard drive.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING 123PRINT

1: Go to 123 Print

2: Click "Business Cards".

3: Click on a card design. It doesn't matter which one (this is non-intuitive and tripped me up at first)

4: Click "Learn How". Those instructions fill in whatever I missed.

5: Upload the image you downloaded using "Add Logo/Artwork".

6: Note the scissors boundaries. Stretch and move the image so it neatly fits inside those boundaries. The best way is to start with it small in the center and then drag the corners out because otherwise it does this irritating "bounce" thing.

7: Click on all the text lines and delete all the text. Since the text is on the image itself any additional text is unwanted. The easiest way to do this is to click on the text segment then click outside of it.

8: Enter your initials, approve, then fill out all the forms, address, etc. Uncheck the "subscribe to newsletter" option. You decide how many you want, and whether to make them glossy or standard. Price is about $30 for 500 glossy cards, not bad.

And wait for the business cards to show up.

Next list of items, enhanced/altered images:

Corn removed and replaced with other vegetation in landscape, replaced by KAC foods in table scene. Fax numbers replaced in all 3. New table texture, new 3d planar text surface. Restaurant scene has both floor and ceiling, and good visibility out of window.

It would be advisable to make a choice now and get the cards printed.

Note to Curtis:

I have researched some business card services. Some options include:

Overnight prints Option for 100 3.5" by 2" glossy one-sided business cards for $9.95. $14.95 for double-sided.

Vista Print 250 matte one-sided business cards for $8.99. $32.00 for 250 double-sided and glossy. Unusually high savings on one-sided cards in bulk - $27.97 for 1000 one-sided glossy cards. (Only $13 non-glossy for 1000 cards)

EDIT: VISTA PRINT IS A SCAM. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. THEY WILL BLEED YOUR CREDIT CARD DRY.

Prints made Easy 100 double-sided glossy cards for $19.99. The base price is higher than average. The extras (gloss and double-sided) are comparatively cheap. 300 full-featured cards for $44.99.

Business Cards.com Prices over $50 for 250 one-sided cards. Not the best value.

123 Print 500 one-sided non-gloss cards for $18.95. $3.95 for 100. About $9 more for gloss.

None of these numbers include shipping costs. Shipping typically ranges from $5.00 to $11.00 depending on size of order.

These are the last two before the above one.

For other people observing the work: The further you go down, the older the work. It's been a process, started with drawings, moving from vague to specific, from simple to detailed.

Curtis, the image below is another "enhanced" version. You said at one point, "go with the first two", during one phone call, and I'm still puzzled by that - did you mean the first two on the page, or first two time-wise, before the string of "enhanced" work? Regardless, I'm continuing to develop more renditions every so often, in my spare time (along with the various other projects I'm rotating between when not doing college coursework - making a computer game, updating the website www.hornbostelmedia.com, putting together two DVDs for two different people - a paying client and a friend, and helping my sister with a school project.) Hopefully I can come up with/develop/hone in on something we both like, and we'll be able to move on. The more suggestions you can give, the better. Beyond that, I'll just go on my own creative instincts, and try things.

Here are some more pics - the background without foreground (two variants), two new iteration of the designs, and two prototype business cards. I'll keep working on these.

That one is a high-contrast variant designed to draw focus to the center of the image.

This is the other starting version, it is more subtle and pleasant in color overall.

This is that plate concept, I think it had some potential if done carefully, so I worked with it.
